Texas, native Colin Jacobs took the next step and played U-16 this season as an underage (93) with the Texas Attack U-16 Team
Dallas, Texas - When Colin Jacobs decided to commit to playing in the 2008 Elite Prospects Showcase 93 Division it made Showcase Director Don Harkins a happy man. "Colin is definitely an Elite Player in his age group" stated Harkins. "In order to maintain our mission statement of "Elite Prospects" we have to deliver on these types of players, that is the type of high end players scouts want to see". "These aren't just players who are going to be good Junior or College Players but Pro's as well" . "I know for a fact alot of the Big NCAA Schools will be there in attendence to watch Jacobs and other top 93's from North America" added Harkins. "I can guarantee you there are 2 programs based out of Ann Arbor (US NTDP & Michigan) will be watching intently". "The Elite Prospects Showcase is a can't miss for us from a scouting standpoint " added Bill Powers (Assistant Coach University of Michigan). Michigan currently has players Tristin Llewelyn, Steve Kampfer, Aaron Palushaj, Max Pacioretty who are Elite Prospects Showcase Alumni and future recruits Rob Czarnik, David Wholberg, Kevin Lynch, AJ Treais, Jon Merril, Jared Knight, and Luke Moffat. "It is a great event to be able to see all of the top kids, in one event, competing with and against each other" added Powers. Jacobs will be competing on Team USA in the event with other top 93's from the US against the best players from Western Canada and Ontario. Jacobs will have a busy Spring, after the Elite Prospects Showcase in April, the WHL Bantam Draft will follow with Jacobs considered to be a top pick in that Draft. Then the recruiting war between, the WHL, US NTDP, and the NCAA will begin. Luke Moffat who is committed to the US NTDP for next fall and the University of Michigan after that was also a top pick in last year's WHL Draft. Where Moffat and Jacobs will end up, only time will tell.
