Since Joining the Miami Redhawks (CCHA) in the second semester Miele has continued his scoring ways
Andy Miele showed up on the Oxford, Ohio Campus fresh off setting the all time goal scoring record with the Chicago Steel (USHL). Miele netted 30 goals in 28 games with the Steel this season before heading off to join the Redhawks for the second semester this academic year. His former Coach current Ohio Junior Blue Jackets General Manager couldn't wait to see him leave the Eastern Conference in the USHL. "I was happy for Andy" said Harkins "but at the same time we are in a playoff race trying to catch Chicago and I wanted Andy to keep scoring goals for Miami not the Steel" laughed Harkins. Miele has always been a prolific scorer during his youth hockey days with Honeybaked and Little Caesar's and he continued with that gifted scoring touch in Juniors and now College. "Andy has great hands, speed, and vision" said Harkins "but the thing that sticks out most to me is his competitiveness" added Harkins. "He's gritty, I love going to battle with guys like Andy Miele on my team". Mile was named CCHA Rookie of the Week for March 3rd, after scoring and assisting on two goals in last Friday's regular season finale, giving Miele his second three-point effort in his last three contests (3-4-7, +5 in his last three). Miele has averaged over a point a game since coming to Miami at the begining of the semester, scoring 13 points in 12 games. Miele tied teammate Nathan Davis for the most points scored by a Redhawk during February, with 11.
