 John Tavares was selected #1 Overall in the 2009 NHL Draft by the New York Islanders. That makes Elite Prospects Director Don Harkins smile "John is a very talented player and will make an impact in the NHL" stated Harkins. "With Tavares going #1 in 2009 and Patrick Kane #1 in 2007 it solidifies our message of attracting the top "Elite" Prospects in youth hockey today who play in our Showcase" added Harkins. Tavares was taken #1 Overall by the Oshawa Generals in his OHL Draft year and was traded last season to the London Knights. He led Team Canada to back to back Gold Medals at the 2008 & 2009 IIHF World Jr. Championships.
