Michigan State continues to shore up its goaltending situation, with Jeff Lerg as its goalie of today and USHL/USA Hockey Goaltender of the Year Drew Palmisano beginning his freshman campaign, they are excited about receiving a commitment from Jerome, Michigan native Willie Yanakeff for the Fall of 2010. "It puts them in a good goaltending position for years to come" commented a rival CCHA Coach. Ironically all three are Michigan natives (Lerg (Farmington Hills), Palmisano (Ann Arbor), and Yanakeff (Jerome). All three developed their youth skills with the Honeybaked Organization along with Palmisano and Yanakeff having played for Victory Honda along the way as well.
Yanakeff a 4/30/92 birthdate stands 6'3" 195 lbs and is a big athletic netminder and should compliment Palmisano well upon his arrival in East Lansing in 2010. Yanakeff is currently playing for the US NTDP U-17 Team out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. All MSU has to do is hope he actually shows up on campus, let the OHL / NCAA recruitment process begin.
